Asha Galindo
(Chingona/Chillona/she/hers) is a lifelong storyteller, writer, and teacher from the border town of Chula Vista, CA. Her work has been featured in

Asha is a first generation college student. She has degrees from both
San Diego City College
and
Cal Poly Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State University)
. Most recently, she earned her MFA in Creative Writing at the
University of Iowa
in the
Nonfiction Writing Program
.
Her book on the history of
Toyon Literary Magazine,
Toyon: 65 Years of Student-Led Publishing
, co-written with Erika Andrews and Sarah Godlin was published in 2021 from
HSU Press

Asha currently uses her talents as an educator at Kirkwood Community College, sometimes The University of Iowa, and anywhere else that will have her. She lives in Iowa City, but is willing to relocate.
Currently writing: Yarns about FOB fandom in the 2000s; a memoir about working at SeaWorld; an essay collection that's a memoir about growing up hooked on TV; a short story about a blood bath at a game show
